Electroless Plating Process | Electro-Coating

Electroless nickel plating is a form of alloy treatment designed to increase resistance and hardness in a metal or plastic. The electroless nickel plating process is simpler than its counterpart electroplating. There is no need to pass an electric current through the chemical bath solution in order to initiate the plating process.

Nickel Plating

The nickel plating process has been modified to produce molds for the blow molding, thermoforming, and rotational molding industries. 1 The process begins with the part pattern, as described above. The parting line is defined and half the pattern, along with additional pattern construction of the parting line geometry, is carefully isolated from the other half.

Electroless Nickel Plating

Electroless nickel plating, or ENP, is an auto-catalytic (self-sustaining) chemical process used to deposit a coating of nickel on a solid surface for increased wear, lubricity, and corrosion protection without the use of electrical current. The plating process relies on the presence of a reducing agent which reacts with the metal ions to deposit metal.

Nickel Electroplating*

Nickel plating is similar to other electroplating processes that employ soluble metal anodes. It requires the passage of direct current between two electrodes that are immersed in a conductive, aqueous solution of nickel salts.

The Zinc Plating Process

Our zinc-nickel plating process has also become a preferred choice in the automotive industry due to its excellent corrosion protection. During salt spray testing, our zinc-nickel plated parts were able to withstand the formation of white rust for up to 500 hours and red rust for up to 1,000 hours.
