Exploring Phosphate Sorption on Thermally Modified Kaolinite

The aim of this study is to investigate the capability and mechanism of phosphorus adsorption present in water through thermally treated kaolin. For this purpose, batch experiments are conducted to treat synthetic water samples with phosphate content using kaolin sourced from the northern region of Albania. The kinetics and mechanism of adsorption are examined.

The result reveals that both kaolin and phosphate rocks contain valuable elements essential for bone metabolism such as Sr, Zn, Cu, Mn, Ba, Cr, and V. ... reducing the kaolin content led to a slight decrease in the SiO 2 and Al 2 O 3 contents. It also found that the TiO 2 content in the batches was decreased by decreasing the kaolin content.

The effect of phosphorus on the formation of mullite …

Mullite with an aspect ratio of 82.08 was prepared by adding 4.5 wt% Ca 3 (PO 4) 2 to citric acid activated kaolin. Phosphorus (P) has a significant role in the formation of well-developed mullite whiskers. The mechanisms were discussed based on X-ray diffraction, FTIR, SEM, EDS and 31 P MAS NMR. The addition of P decreases the quartz content, but increases …

Simultaneous sorption of orthophosphate and phosphonate …

In this study, the novel kaolin/lanthanum carbonate (KLC) composites were prepared for the simultaneous sorption of phosphate and phosphonate, and their surface morphology and crystal structure were characterized. The sorption kinetics and isotherms results indicated the competitive sorption of orthophosphate and phosphonate on the surface of KLC.

Among various strategies for mitigating harmful algal blooms (HABs), coagulation–flocculation of algal cells by modified clay (MC) has proven to be an effective method that is widely applied in East Asia. Inorganic nutrients produced by algal detritus decomposition after an HAB are quickly released into the overlying water, which may cause second eutrophication. For environmental …
