Several studies have been carried out to examine the environmental impacts of limestone, granite, and marble quarrying and processing (Khyaliya et al. 2017; Li et al. 2019; Tugrul Tunc 2019). In a report by the Pakistan Stone Development Corporation (PASDC), approximately 85% of the marble resource is wasted throughout marble mining.

Another important feature of the marble mining is represented by the high level of waste materials released during the quarrying process. Both these elements call for careful attention to the production of this material, aiming for a suitable reduction of the environmental impact exerted by the current working procedures.
