Stibnite

These samples of stibnite are displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Stibnite is a sulfide mineral of antimony. It has the composition Sb 2 S 3 (OH) or Sb 2 S 3. The left sample is about 4x25 cm and is from Ichinokawa mine, Ehime, Japan. Stibnite is mined as a source of antimony. The mines at Ehime were depleted in the 1890s.

Antimony isotope fractionation in hydrothermal systems

The Rayleigh equation for precipitated stibnites is defined as δ A = (δ 0 + 1000) × (1 − f α)/(1 − f) − 1000, where δ 0 is the initial Sb isotopic composition of the hydrothermal fluid, δ A represents the Sb isotopic composition of the gradually precipitated stibnite from this ore fluid, α refers to the fractionation factor between ...

Material Source and Genesis of the Daocaowan Sb Deposit …

The Daocaowan antimony (Sb) deposit is a newly discovered Sb deposit located outside the northeast Xikuangshan ore field. In the absence of geochemical data, the metallogenic mechanism of the Daocaowan Sb deposit and its relationship with the Xikuangshan ore field remains unclear. Using high-resolution LA-ICP-MS technique, this study quantitatively …

Trace element compositions of pyrite and stibnite

base metals (Cu, Pb, and Zn) are rich in stibnite from the deep magmatic-related Woxi deposit but are depleted in stibnite from the basement metamorphic rocks-related Xikuangshan and Banxi deposits. Thus, the trace element composition of stibnite can be regarded as an eective tool to distinguish the genetic type of the ore deposit. Pyrite,

The Gerakario Cu-Au porphyry deposit in the Kilkis ore district, northern Greece, contains epithermal quartz-stibnite veins on the eastern side of the deposit, which crosscut a two-mica gneiss. Metallic mineralization in these veins consists of stibnite + berthierite + native antimony + pyrite + arsenopyrite, and minor marcasite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, löllingite, and …

This suggests that the two Sb-W deposits may differ slightly in their source rock composition, which is also supported by the different trace element compositions of stibnite. Stibnite from the Zhazixi deposit is relatively enriched in As, Se and Pb, whereas stibnite from the Chashan deposit contains higher Sn, Zn, Mo, Ag, In and Sr, further ...

The stibnite dimorph, metastibnite, found here for the first time on the seafloor, appears to always form whenever stibnite is precipitated under submarine hydrothermal conditions. Our study shows that hydrothermal conditions of low temperatures (<50 °C) and low values of pH (<6) are favorable for the precipitation of stibnite on the seafloor.

Mechanism and Kinetics of Stibnite Dissolution in H

This paper is concerned with the kinetics of stibnite (Sb2S3) dissolution in H2SO4-NaCl-Fe(SO4)1.5-O2 solutions. The experimental results of our study showed a positive effect from ferric ions on stibnite dissolution of up to 0.05 M. An increase in H2SO4 concentration from 0.8 to 3 M and NaCl concentration from 0 to 3 M NaCl improved the stibnite dissolution. In …

Enhancement Mechanism of Stibnite Dissolution Mediated by

Abstract. Oxidative dissolution of stibnite (Sb 2 S 3), one of the most prevalent geochemical processes for antimony (Sb) release, can be promoted by Sb-oxidizing microbes, which were studied under alkaline and neutral conditions but rarely under acidic conditions. This work is dedicated to unraveling the enhancement mechanism of stibnite dissolution by typical …

Bulk analysis results of trace element and sulfur isotopic composition of stibnite from the deposits in the XZMP have been reported by previous studies (Fan, 2004; Gu et al., 2012; Li et al., 2018a; Li et al., 2019a), and the sources of metal and sulfur have been discussed. However, due to the limitation of bulk analysis results and the lack of ...
